Apple pie

Apple Pie

Ingredients: 

- 1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

 6–8 medium-sized apples 🍎

 - 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

- Two tablespoons of small-cut unsalted butter

 - One tablespoon lemon juice 🍋 

- 1/4 teaspoon salt - One packet of chilled pie crusts (14.1 ounces; two crusts)

Procedure:

1. Set the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).

 2. Take off the apple cores and thinly slice them. Transfer them to a sizable mixing basin.

 3. Combine the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt in a small basin. After scattering this mixture over the apples, squeeze in the lemon. Toss gently until apples are coated all over. 

4. Remove one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie pan. Cut any excess dough around the edges.

 5. Spoon the apple filling into the pie crust, making a tiny depression in the centre. Put a little dab of butter on top. 

6. Place the remaining pie crust on top of the filling. To seal the pie, cut off any excess dough and crimp the edges. Make many small slits in the upper crust to release the trapped steam. 

7. Transfer the pie to a baking sheet and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling bubbles.

 8. Allow the pie to cool for at least an hour.

Master Tip: 

- For the finest flavour and texture, use a variety of apples. 

- The lemon juice gives the filling brightness and keeps the apples from browning, so don't omit it. 

- Watch the pie while it bakes to avoid it from browning too much; if necessary, cover the edges with foil halfway through. Allowing the pie to cool completely before slicing improves presentation and ease of serving by allowing the filling to solidify.
